Sports Personality of the Year
Weakest line up in years.

Stuart Broad, jockey Hollie Doyle, boxer Tyson Fury, Formula 1's Lewis Hamilton, footballer Jordan Henderson and snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Hardly a contest.

Was going to vote in this for first time ever, just to help stop that cunt Lewis Hamilton winning, but Fury wants out and I'll reckon he's best bet to stop little weed Lewis.

Not a very diverse line up either, no gays, trans and only 1 woman, and only 1 ethnic type?

Have the PC and Woke brigade had there say on Twitter? the verdict wont be good, but guess the woman or Hamilton will win, or possibly Fury although i think even the Woke elite draw the line when it comes to pikeys!

It'll be some BAME cunt that nobody's heard of.

Should be renamed Sports person of the year. The line up doesn't have a personality in the sense of the word.

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
If you think F1 is a sport (I think it’s just fast moving traffic) then the outstanding Lewis Hamilton SHOULD win
I suspect Tyson Fury asking to come off the list and the BBC refusing means the Boaty McBoatface crowd will vote him in. For a laugh & to embarrass the BBC

For those who don’t like the list, who would you add?

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
It's interesting there's no Marcus Rashford, given BBC Breakfast's cringing attempts to ride the coattails of his campaigning just because they're based in Manchester.

Not 100% a Rashford devotee myself, but he HAS at least shown some "personality". Henderson has the charisma of a slug.

Not that I care. Haven't watched it in well over a decade.

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
The first requirement is ‘sports achievement’ and they take into account impact beyond their sport
Rashford wouldn’t have achieved enough in 2020 to be ahead of someone like Henderson
Henderson was also the one who organised the Premier league captains to get players to donate to the NHS wasn’t he?
Though not sure Boris Johnson gave HIM a call to try & stem his embarrassment

This will be like 2009

F1 world champion clear favourite (Lewis Hamilton / Jenson Button)

There aren’t that many F1 fans and those that are support their favourite teams. Outside of Mercedes Hamilton is not that popular with the public no matter how much the BBC try to sell him.

Football on the other hand is very popular and massive football clubs have huge chats forums where block voting snowballs.

So as Ryan Giggs beat the bookies in 2009 so too might Jordan Henderson at 12/1

I’m having a bit

I don't know the criteria, Sven. How much has that premier League players' initiative raised, btw? Anyone know? £200 for signed shirts?

In terms of STATS, Henderson wasn't notable. He just happens to be captain, as Klopp knows he preferably needs an Englishman.

https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-the-top-25-premier-league-players-in-201920-according-to-statistics-20200727

Fundamental problem exists of comparing boxer and 25-strong football squad. It's nonsense.

Yes, Hamilton boxes off BLM/BAME nicely but the lack of disableds/gays is surely a massive oversight. It looks pikey-heavy to me and with Fury looking to pull out they have the opportunity to correct the oversight whilst still ticking the pikey box with O’Sullivan.

A disabled gay would be perfect replacement for fury but can’t think of any ?

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
IIm surprised this is the best that could be mustered? And No one with a disability, openly gay and a total lack of woman and/or anyone from an ethnic background or minority group.

BBC, dogs etc

Re: Sports Personality of the Year
I learnt the t&c’s by googling Requirements for bbc sports personality
Sets out what they judge on , voting etc etc

Players Together initially launched in April with £4m. Not seen what has been added in the last 8 months
Politicians Together & Bankers Together are yet to be formed or announce THEIR contribution

The original list is selected by a panel headed by the Director of Sport at the Bbc & includes other sport related ‘experts’. Bbc have said that as it’s selected by an independent panel Fury will remain on the list

Fury's already told his fans not to bother voting as he knows who'll they'll be handing it to. hopefully Lewis wears his lock & chain to the ceremony, that's it can be bothered travelling from monaco
